The City of Memphis provides three pension plans for full-time employees:
- The Defined Benefit Plan for participating retirees and current full-time employees (both general and police/fire employees).
- The Hybrid Plan for participating full-time employees (both general and police/fire employees) with less than 7.5 consecutive years of service as of June 30, 2016 and all employees hired after June 30, 2016.
- The Social Security Plan for participating AFSCME Solid Waste Employees
- Deferred Compensation Plan (457 B Plan), a supplemental retirement plan established in accordance with section 457(b) of the Internal Revenue Code that allows employees to save money on tax-deferred basis.
